This year, in conjunction with our annual Vacation Bible School mission's offering to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home, the Missions Committee opened the door up to all church members to participate. Members were encouraged to give generously, over and above their regular tithes. The offering was part of an initiaive by the LBCH called, "I Am That Child". To kickstart the offering emphasis, members watched a video that explained the purpose of the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home. In that video, young resisdents of the Children's Home shared about impact that the LBCH has had in their lives and about the love that they have found in Christ. At a recent July 20th business meeting, our Missions Committee Chair reported that a tremendous offering had been collected for the Children's Home through VBS and church offerings totaling $2,509.50. She also stated that the Georgia Barnett State Mission's Offering will be collected during September. The Week of Prayer for that particular mission offering will be September 11-18, 2016.
At Northside, we exert a great deal of our mission efforts towards supporting the Louisiana Baptist Children's home in their mission to provide love, care, and hope in Christ to children and families in need. In fact, our interim pastor, Bro. James Carson, is on the Board of Trustees at the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home. In addition, we actively support and house two LBCH missionaries, Ron and Cindy Kouf, in their Mobile Pregnancy Care Center ministry. The Mobile Pregnancy Care Center is designed to give women a safe and comfortable environment to receive a pregnancy test, limited ultrasound, and life-affirming information about pregnancy options. The Louisiana Baptist Children's Home has been in ministry since 1899 and we look forward to contributing to their continued success in care for children and families in need.
Below is a letter of thanks recieved from the LBCH to Northside in regards to our contribution.
